Disc golf is a flying disc game, as well as a precision and accuracy sport, in which individual players throw a flying disc at a target. According to Paul Ince of the Professional Disc Golf Association, "the object of the game is to traverse a course from beginning to end in the fewest number of throws of the disc." In just 8 years (2000–08), the number of disc golf courses doubled. The game is played in about 40 countries around the world.

new age kurlingNew Age Kurling

  • New Age Kurling is a form of the game of Curling but instead of playing on ice it is played on any smooth flooring, such as a sports hall or dance floor.
  • The game is played with rubber kurling stones and pushers the stones have three ball bearings on the bottom to allow the stones to move along the ground - a target is placed on the floor to aim towards, like in the traditional game.
  • The game can be played by able bodied and disabled people on an equal footing, trials with disabled people have just been completed and it has proved so popular that it has been recognized as a sport by Disabled Sports England,
  • The British Wheelchair Sports Foundation and most disabled sports unions around the world. New Age Kurling is one of the fastest growing sports and it is now being played in 23 countries around the world. It is proving to be a great inclusive, fun game that can be played by all ages and all abilities.

skittlesSkittles

  • The bag of skittles contains nine skittles and three balls. There are 8 normal skittles and 1 larger skittle (with a round ball on top).
  • The skittles should be set up as shown above with the large skittle in the middle and the other 8 making a diamond around it.
  • Players stand or sit a set distance away (this distance is determined by the leader in charge) and roll the balls, one at a time at the skittles.

  • After each ball, the skittles that have been knocked over should be removed and once they are out of the way the next ball can be rolled.

  • After all three balls have been rolled, you count up how many skittles have been knocked over and that is the score obtained by that person.

  • The minimum score that can be achieved is 0 (if no skittles are knocked down) and the maximum score is 9 (if every skittle is knocked down).

table skittlesTable Skittles

  • There are nine skittles to be knocked over using the ball on the end of the chain connected to the wooden pole.
  • Players stand behind the table at the side where the wooden pole and chain are positioned.
  • They swing the ball either side of the pole and the ball has to make one full rotation before it knocks any of the skittles over. If it knocks over any skittles before making the full rotation you simply replace the skittles and take the turn again. Please remember that after you have released the ball to step back to avoid being hit with the ball when it is swinging round.
  • After the first go, the skittles that have been knocked over are removed and the player has a second go in an effort to knock over the remaining skittles.
  • If during the players two attempts they knock over all nine skittles, the player gets a 'bonus turn'. For the bonus turn, all nine skittles are replaced and the player has one extra go to knock over as many as possible.
  • The minimum score that can be achieved is 0 (if no skittles are knocked down) and the maximum score is 27 (if every skittle is knocked down on all 3 attempts).

target bocciaTarget Boccia

  • Players can play individually, against an opponent or in teams
  • Players get 5 balls each to roll, kick or throw into the hoops.
  • Players can stand or sit when they take their turn although we suggest everyone who plays sits to make it fair for everyone.
  • There is no set distance for where players have to take their turn from and this should be decided by the leader in charge. We do advise that you keep the distance the same throughout the game.
  • Balls have to be fully in the hoop at the end of the game to score.
  • The balls in the 3 hoops at the front are worth 1 point, balls in the 2 hoops in the middle are worth 5 points and the balls in the hoop at the top of the target (furthest away) are worth 10 points.
  • There is no score if a ball falls between 2 hoops such as the blue ball between the red and blue hoops in the photo above.
  • The minimum score that can be achieved is 0 (if no balls are in any of the hoops) and the maximum score is 50 (if all 5 balls are contained in the furthest hoop at the top of the target).

scholenScholen

  • Players have 15 wooden discs to push from behind the line and aim for the four holes at the other end of the board.
  • Each hole is marked with a specific points value (1, 2, 3 or 4) and points are awarded if the wooden disc goes all the way through the hole.
  • You are not allowed to remove a disc that hasn't gone through a hole. The discs remain where they are and you have to play around them or knock them closer to the holes.
  • If you get a line of discs, one in each hole, points are doubled for that line and every line you manage to get. This means that if you get a disc in the 1 point hole, a disc in the 2 points hole, a disc in the 3 points hole and a disc in the 4 points hole, you will score 20 points instead of scoring 10 points (1+2+3+4x2). If you get 3 discs in the 1 point hole, 3 discs in the 2 points hole, 3 discs in the 3 points hole and 3 discs in the 4 points hole you will score 60 points instead of scoring 30 points.
  • The minimum score that can be achieved is 0 (if no discs are through any holes) and the maximum score is 72 (3 lines + 3 discs in the 4 point hole).

bocciaBoccia

  • Players or teams get 5 red or blue balls each
  • Players can sit or stand to roll the balls. If anyone has to sit we suggest that all players sit to make it as fair as possible.
  • The first player in team A rolls out the white target ball and the opponent/opposing team throws out their first ball (red or blue) aiming to get as close to the white ball as possible.
  • Teams alternate turns until all the balls have been rolled out and the closest to the white target ball wins.
  • In the next game, team B rolls out the white target ball.
  • The ball closest to the white target ball wins, but you get a point for every one of your balls that are nearest the white target ball before the other team's first ball.

Additional hire option for boccia is the specialised wedge:

Mobile Skate Park and Ball Cage

A Mobile Skate Park and Ball Cage is available for hire which sees a number of small ramps, skate boxes and Cage stored in a trailer.

The Mobile Skate Park and Ball Cage has visited many youth clubs, primary and secondary schools and Parish fetes across the Horsham district. It has allowed young people aged 7 – 18 with the opportunity of having a go at skateboarding on the ramps.

mobile skateparkMobile Skate Park

We hire out the Mobile Skate Park and an officer to oversee the set up and set down of the equipment and the safe use of the equipment at a cost of £30 per hour.

The ramps can be set up in a lot of different ways in order to maximise or minimise space. The sessions are required to have a hard play surface but they can also be used indoors i.e. inside a leisure centre gymnasium.

On the day of the session we come in and set up the Skate Park and provide the skateboards and helmets for the young people to use. We assist any persons needing support with the ramps and boards and set up games to create a fun atmosphere. As the ramps can be made bigger and smaller due to size or competence the ramps can be used from complete beginners to the more advanced skaters.

The ramps are an ideal add on to a local/private event and training would be available to any persons wanting to hire the equipment without my supervision.

ball cageBall Cage

The ball cage is a multi use steel cage that can be put up on either grass or a hard play surface. The cage itself is made from panels that can all be used to make the largest oval shape or made smaller by not using all the panels.

The main use of the Cage is football as there are two goals that can be set up using all the panels but also basketball can be played with the hire of two baskets from the Horsham District Sports Development equipment store.

The cage is ideal for fete's, school enrichment days, local festivals and any outdoor events. A team of two people would come and set up the cage or alternatively training can be given.
